NPI Assembly Technician

Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join our client in Scotts Valley, CA. This role focuses on supporting prototype and early-stage product builds, collaborating closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams. The Assembly Technician will play a critical role in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems during the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electronic and mechanical assembly of PCBAs and system-level products.
  • Build from BOMs, drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Support prototype, pilot, and early production builds.
  • Perform SMT and through-hole soldering, rework, and modifications as needed.
  • Assist with kit builds, material preparation, and component verification.
  • Identify and report assembly issues, defects, or discrepancies to engineering.
  • Support basic testing and troubleshooting during builds.
  • Follow travelers, SOPs, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet build schedules and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years of experience in electronics assembly or manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with PCBA assembly, soldering, and rework.
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience supporting NPI or prototype builds is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-600) is preferred.
  • Experience with kit builds, material handling, or production readiness is preferred.
  • Exposure to basic electrical testing or debug is preferred.

Monday - Friday, 1st Shift

Additional Details

Salary: $25 - $30 per hour
